Personal Support Workers (PSW)

Our Community Support Services (CSS) team provides essential services that enable our clients to thrive. Whether their disability is physical, the result of brain injury, or aging, our more than 2,000 team members assist clients in their homes and across communities, to live as independently as possible.

The opportunity

Known internally as Support Service Attendant, we have 2 new opportunities for Part-Time Personal Support Workers in our South region - St. Catharines, ON.

• Schedule: Includes mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Starting wage: $22.81 per hour. This compensation is inclusive of a $3.00 per hour wage enhancement from the Ontario government for hours spent directly supporting clients. The wage enhancement does not apply to training and paid leave.
• Hours: Various hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Personal care
• Lifts and Transfers
• Rising/retiring
• Bowel and bladder procedures
• Meal preparation and feeding
• Range of motion exercises
• Other light housekeeping duties
• Perform duties in a professional manner, which respects the dignity and right to privacy and maintains consumer and staff health and safety.
• The Support Services Attendants will be required to work multiple shifts (i.e. workdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays) that vary between locations through the Niagara Region.

Qualifications and experience

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
• High School graduate or equivalent
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain
• Experience working with individuals with physical disabilities, older adults, or as an informal caregiver considered an asset but not required
• Good interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of and abilities in transferring, lifting, bowel and bladder routines and other attendant care
