Summer Marketing Intern

Good Trade Co. is a social enterprise coffee company that works directly with farmers and their communities in rural Colombia. We're looking for the world's best people-person/coffee-addict to add to our team. As a Summer Marketing Intern you will develop and set in motion a 12-month marketing plan in collaboration with our team. You will be integral in planning and preparing our marketing initiatives for the whole year.

Please note , this position receives funding through the Canada Summer Jobs program. As such, you must meet the following criteria to be considered…

• Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period*
• Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment** and
• Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

The Role and Responsibilities...

• Strategic Planning:
• Collaborate with the team to develop a comprehensive 12-month marketing plan that aligns with our business goals and brand values.
• Social Media Management:
• Write, design, and schedule engaging social media posts across various platforms to promote our brand and connect with our audience.
• Monitor social media performance and provide insights for improvement.
• Email Marketing:
• Write, design, and schedule compelling email newsletters to engage wholesale customers, coffee shop patrons, and community partners.
• Track email campaign metrics and suggest enhancements.
• Content Creation:
• Develop blog posts or short articles highlighting our commitment to ethical sourcing, community programs, and coffee culture.
• Assist with photography or video content for use on social media and our website.
• Market Research:
• Conduct research on marketing trends, competitor strategies, and target audience preferences to inform marketing decisions.
• Website SEO:
• Conduct keyword research to identify opportunities for improving website visibility.
• Optimize website content, including product descriptions and blog posts, for search engines.
• Analyze website traffic and SEO performance, providing recommendations for improvements.
• Event Support:
• Assist in planning and promoting local events or partnerships, such as pop-up coffee tastings or community fundraisers.
• General Support:
• Collaborate with team members on additional marketing initiatives and administrative tasks as needed.

What you bring...

• Strong writing and editing skills, with an attention to detail
• Proficiency in social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, Tik Tok, LinkedIn).
• Basic knowledge of email marketing tools (e.g., Mailchimp) and graphic design software (e.g., Canva or Adobe Suite) is an asset.
• Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Excellent computer skills (we heavily rely on the ‘cloud' such as the Google Suite of software)
