Security Guard - Commercial Building

Allied Universal is seeking a reliable, professional, and customer-focused Security Guard - Commercial Building to join our team in Markham , Ontario .

Position Details

Job Title: Security Guard - Commercial Building

Location: Markham, Ontario

Employment Type: Full-Time

Pay Rate: $17.66 per hour

Schedule: Sunday to Thursday

Shift: 11:45pm to 8:30am

Position Overview

The Security Guard - Commercial Building is responsible for providing professional security, access control, and monitoring services. The successful candidate will help maintain a safe and secure environment by monitoring site access, verifying authorized personnel and visitors, protecting company assets, and responding appropriately to security and safety concerns.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, excellent communication and customer service skills, and the ability to remain professional and composed while working independently.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor the gatehouse and control site access for employees, visitors, contractors, and vehicles.
• Verify identification and maintain accurate access and visitor records.
• Conduct site patrols and maintain a visible security presence.
• Monitor CCTV, access control, and other security systems as required.
• Respond promptly to security incidents, emergencies, and safety concerns.
• Maintain clear communication with security personnel and site management.
• Complete accurate daily logs, incident reports, and shift handover documentation.
• Identify and report security risks, safety hazards, and unauthorized activity.
• Follow all site-specific security, safety, and emergency procedures.

Qualifications & Requirements

• 1 year of experience in gatehouse or access control operations preferred.
• Valid Ontario Security Guard Licence .
• Valid First Aid and CPR certification .
• Minimum 18 years of age .
• Strong computer and typing skills.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Legally authorized to work in Canada for up to 40 hours per week.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately maintain records.
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in a professional environment.
