Senior Backend Engineer Tax Systems
Coinbase
Build high-throughput tax systems at Coinbase, focusing on distributed services and data pipelines where correctness is critical. Work remotely with quarterly surges.
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Tax team, you will support Coinbase Consumer & Business products. Your work covers cost basis tracking, gain/loss calculation, withholding automation, and compliance reporting. You will design extensible backend primitives for products spanning trades, payments, equities, margin, and options.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver backend tax infrastructure systems
- Build broker reporting and withholding pipelines
- Integrate clearing systems with external partners
- Translate ambiguous problems into production solutions
- Mentor engineers through reviews and technical guidance
Requirements:
- Six-plus years building production backend software
- Strong distributed systems fundamentals and high-throughput service experience
- Experience designing critical data pipelines
- End-to-end ownership of complex systems
- Responsible generative AI use with human oversight
