Amnesty International Canadian Section - English Speaking (AICSES) is seeking a dynamic Donor Stewardship Associate (DSA). The Donor Stewardship Associate reports to the Manager of Individual Giving and Supporter Services and is an essential member of the fundraising team. This role has two main focuses: cultivating and strengthening donor relationships, particularly through the monthly giving program, and raising funds through institutional donations for special project initiatives. The DSA will ensure high-quality donor engagement, retention, and growth while also supporting stewardship efforts across other fundraising programs.

The DSA participates in, plans, implements, and evaluates a wide range of services focused on retaining existing supporters, deepening their relationships with Amnesty, and acquiring funds through institutional giving. The DSA is passionate about building lasting relationships that advance the organization’s mission.

The DSA ensures that diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI), anti‑racism, and anti‑oppression (ARAO) principles and practices are integrated into day‑to‑day interactions with all stakeholders and into strategies and materials. In this sense, the SSA plays a significant role in preserving the organization's overall reputation.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Monthly Giving Program

• Manage and execute a comprehensive stewardship plan for monthly donors, ensuring consistent engagement, retention, and upgrade opportunities.
• Develop and implement personalized donor touchpoints, including impact updates, thank‑you communications, and special recognition efforts.
• Monitor monthly donor retention rates, analyze trends, and recommend strategic improvements.
• Participate in monthly donor acquisition campaign development and scheduling with MDAC (Monthly Donor Acquisition Associate) to ensure integrated stewardship measures.
• Respond to donor inquiries and process updates to donor information in collaboration with MDAC.

General Fundraising program – Stewardship & Engagement

• Support stewardship efforts for other fundraising programs, including High Value, Annual Giving, Legacy giving, and any other special campaigns.
• Assist in the development of donor recognition materials such as thank‑you letters, reports, and impact stories.
• Coordinate stewardship events, virtual gatherings, and donor appreciation initiatives.
• Collaborate with the Communications/Marketing, Activism and Campaigns teams to create engaging donor content across email, social media, telemarketing, and direct mail.
• Maintain accurate donor records and track engagement activities in the database.

Data, Reporting and Other duties

• Regularly analyze donor retention and giving patterns, providing insights and recommendations to improve stewardship efforts.
• Generate reports and dashboards to track the effectiveness of donor engagement strategies.
• Assist in the preparation of annual stewardship reports and donor impact assessments.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager and/or Director of Fundraising.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• Post‑secondary degree or diploma (or equivalent experience) in fundraising, nonprofit management, communications or related field.

Experience

• A minimum of three years of experience in donor relations, fundraising, or customer service.
• A minimum of three years of CRM, or donor database experience with demonstrated ability to manage and maintain accurate data.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• A minimum of three years experience working with consultants, vendors preferred.
• Experience with Amnesty and its fundraising programs is a definite asset for this position.

Knowledge/Skills

• Strong storytelling skills.
• Knowledge of best practices in donor stewardship and monthly giving programs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and diplomacy skills preferably communicating with existing or prospective donors via e‑mail and digital channels, direct mail, and phone with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately and with discretion.
• Knowledge translation of complex policy and campaign materials into appropriate engagement material for different donors and using different channels.
• Excellent project and time management skills with very keen attention to detail, coupled with the ability to multitask.
• Proficiency with various software applications including Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel.

• Ability to organize and manage various assignments and adjust to changing priorities while maintaining high efficiency and thorough attention to detail.
• Resourceful and independent while comfortable working within an integrated development program and team‑oriented environment.
• A motivated self‑starter with excellent time management skills and an ability to work from broad guidelines with minimal supervision.

Desired Qualifications

• University degree is desirable.
• Working towards a Fundraising certification is desirable.
