English and Social Studies Teacher

Part-Time (0.8571 FTE), Term position

Rockridge Secondary School

Effective September 8th, 2026 until June 30th, 2027

The annual salary for a full-time teaching position ranges from $63,347 to $116,190, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The salary will be prorated based on FTE.

A part-time position (0. 8571 FTE) teaching Junior Social Studies and English is available.

Required Qualifications and Experience 

• Hold a valid BC Teaching Certificate. 
• Evidence of appropriate qualifications and experience in teaching English.
• Solid understanding of the Ministry of Education Core Competencies, Big Ideas, and Learning Standards for English studies.
• The successful candidate will be able to explore Indigenous literature and themes; encourage critical, creative, and reflective thought regarding Canada's First Peoples; as well as collaborate with colleagues to build upon established units.  
• Ability to evaluate and report on student progress using Ministry of Education proficiency scales and IB MYP assessment standards and practices.
• A willingness to work collaboratively with the IB MYP Coordinator and other classroom teachers to authentically develop IB MYP units of study.
• A commitment to and demonstrated experience using and integrating technology into the curriculum.
• An ability to use a variety of teaching and learning strategies that can accommodate the learning needs of all types of learners.
• A proven ability to develop a positive learning environment in the classroom and evidence of strong organization and classroom management skills.
• Strong communication skills.
