The Village of Miller Creek located in Ajax, Ontario has an exciting opportunity for a Contracted Music Therapist to join our team.
- Status: Part-Time
- Location: 1401 Harwood Ave N Ajax, ON L1T 4T9
- Expected Start Date: Fall 2026
Hours: 65 hours / month
As a Music Therapist You Will Work As An Independent Contractor For Schlegel Villages You Will Support Residents As Needed And Reflective Of Their Care Plans
- The Music Therapist will have a degree in Music Therapy from an accredited institution and be eligible for Accreditation with The Canadian Association of Music Therapists.
- Plan, review and assessing therapy sessions to monitor effectiveness and to aid the planning of subsequent sessions.
- Take an active role in sessions by playing, singing, and listening.
- Encourage residents to take part in the session, and supporting them by responding musically.
- Help residents explore the world of sound and to create a musical language of their own.
- Support the resident’s creative development and facilitating positive changes in their behavior and well-being.
- Experience working with seniors is an asset.
