Job Responsibility:

Some of the job responsibilities of the position include:

• Review and ensure the completeness of permit applications and required drawings. Verifying that permit applications have been properly completed and submitted in the Cloudpermit software module.
• Entering by-law investigations and indemnity refund work orders into Cityworks.
• Process permits and circulate files to the Planning Department for review, zoning approval and site plan approval prior to the Chief Building Official for permit issuance. Contact client when the permit and all required reports are completed and the permit is ready to be paid for.
• Completing monthly, quarterly and yearly reports. Reports include information with regards to the issuance of new permits and remove any public information to create public reports.
• Completing all necessary paperwork and data entry for finalizing, revoking and cancelling permits. Contact the applicants and permit holders with updates and procedures.
• Front line customer service, schedule inspections and provide office support to the Building, By-Law and Legal Department. Have a general knowledge of the building and by-law inspection process. Able to coordinate collaborative interdepartmental projects and inspections.
• Responsible for responding to telephone, email, Cloudpermit messaging and in-person enquires for scheduling inspections, questions from the general public, professionals, other government bodies (ERCA, County of Essex, MTO, MECP, etc.) and redirecting inquires to the appropriate person or department as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.
