Site Supervisor - Stanley A. Milner Edmonton Public Library

Overview

Job Skills / Requirements

The Edmonton Public Library utilizes a community based security program that focuses on managing the behaviors of the visitors on the property, and promotes relationship building with the community members who use the services within the building.  The Paladin Security Site Supervisor will be the liaison between our Security team and our client to ensure the smooth operations of the daily security activities on the site.  The Supervisor will work closely with our Agents on site to ensure that we are delivering the services as outlined in our operating procedures and driving the performance of their team members.

Job Description:

Completion of Site Responsibilities:

  • Completion of required patrols; team members are educated on proper procedures and that they are recorded by team members using Notebooks and TrackTik
  • Completion of incident reports in a timely manner, and follow up with the teams on late reporting
  • Deployment of resources as needed either by client direction or visual site assessments, and ensuring visibility of team members throughout the property.

Site Performance Evaluations:

  • The Site Supervisor should be regularly assessing and managing the team
    • Site walk-through to determine areas where improved performance is required
    • Communication with Client Service Manager on accolades and challenges
    • Provide Agents with consistent coaching and regular performance reviews
  • Any concerns about the performance of our teams will be handled as:
    • Immediate communication with Paladin Security
    • Acknowledgement to client of the concern and investigation if required
    • Communication and written documentation of investigation and outcomes, and our conclusions communicated to the client

Team Dynamics

  • Build morale with team members for retention of employees
  • Promote the reporting of Good Deeds from team members on property to Client Service Manager and client representatives; communicate nominations for awards through Paladin Security for the Paladin Pipeline Awards
  • Visibility to the team and creating open dialogue with front line Agents
  • Ensure communication transfer from management to team leads and team leads to management about information and concerns brought forward

Site Training Requirements:

  • Ensure team follows documentation of training program including signing off on completed training of new Security Agents to the site.
  • Working with PRC to ensure that all new hires get required training communicated (tactical communication, threat pattern recognition, handcuffing, First Aid, online training) and scheduled
  • Working with PRC to ensure recertifications are being completed in a timely manner

TrackTik:

  • Weekly review of TrackTik checkpoints in TrackTik to ensure all are being utilized
  • Reprogram missing checkpoints and reinstall

Client Communications:

  • All requests must be replied to as soon as possible with an acknowledgement that it was received, and if actions need to be taken, an estimated timeline to complete.
  • Communication to client is productive and based on actions we can take to improve service delivery
  • Regular communication with client regarding roster changes or service improvement

Special Duty Coverage:

  • Work with client, Client Service Manager and PRC’s to schedule any special duty requests, and ensure deployment of resources

Job requirements:

  • 1-2 years of security experience
  • 1 year of supervisor experience is an asset
  • Class 5-non GDL Drivers License
  • Valid Alberta Security License, or ability to obtain.
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Strong observational skills
  • Ability to make immediate decisions while maintaining composure in emergency response situations with minimal supervision
  • Ability to walk 18/20km and stairs, standing and patrolling for long periods of time

Pay Rate: $20-22

Schedule: Monday to Friday 830AM to 430PM

High School Diploma/GED

Certification Requirements (All)

Valid Class 5 License
