We are seeking a highly accomplished Senior Software Developer - Full Stack for an enterprise-level contract opportunity based in Toronto. In this role, you will take on a premier full-stack software engineering and healthcare interoperability capacity, specializing in building modern React and TypeScript applications embedded within Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) using SMART on FHIR standards, Spring Boot microservices, and advanced geospatial search.

As a principal full-stack developer, you will bridge the gap between complex clinical workflows, secure identity management, and cloud-native integration architectures. Operating within a hybrid work model in Toronto, you will lead full SDLC activities—designing FHIR R4/R4B REST APIs, implementing FHIRCast context synchronization, tuning OpenSearch/Elasticsearch algorithms, and engineering interactive Google Maps overlays. This position is tailored for a technical authority with extensive public sector experience who can secure data access via OAuth2/JWT, integrate enterprise Master Data Management (MDM) platforms, and deliver robust microservices across AWS cloud environments.

Responsibilities
Design, develop, maintain, and optimize Spring Boot microservices and React/TypeScript user interfaces for healthcare provider and service discovery.

Implement SMART on FHIR launch workflows, fhirContext processing, and FHIR read/write operations between core platforms and participating EMRs.

Develop context management capabilities using FHIRCast, ensuring context synchronization and event handling across embedded clinical workflows.

Architect and tune semantic provider and service search, intelligent search suggestions, filtering, and relevance algorithms using OpenSearch.

Build advanced Google Maps features for healthcare service discovery, including geographic filtering, regional/polygon overlays, and service clustering.

Refine Spring Boot search services to enforce role-based access control, permissions, and dataset entitlements for authenticated users.

Design, build, and maintain RESTful and FHIR R4/R4B APIs supporting provider, practitioner, organization, service, location, and eReferral integration use cases.

Integrate applications with NetIQ for authentication, authorization, identity context, and role enforcement via OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and JWT.

Implement integration components for IBM MDM platforms to consume and validate master data across healthcare datasets.

Build event-driven FHIR Pub/Sub and subscription patterns using AWS messaging infrastructure (EventBridge, SNS, SQS) to distribute directory changes.

Develop automated unit, integration, API, and UI tests, supporting CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and operational monitoring.

Author technical architecture blueprints, API specifications, runbooks, and deliver structured knowledge transfer to technical staff.

Qualifications
Core Requirements & Mandatory Experience
Public Sector Experience: Mandatory prior experience working within public sector environments.

Full-Stack & Java/Spring Boot: Strong software engineering experience using Java, Spring Boot microservices, React, TypeScript, and modern full-stack application development practices.

Healthcare Interoperability & SMART on FHIR: Proven hands-on experience developing React/TypeScript applications with SMART on FHIR embedded within EMRs (SMART launch, launch context, fhirContext, FHIR read/write).

FHIR Standards & APIs: Experience designing and developing FHIR R4/R4B and REST APIs supporting provider, service, practitioner, location, and eReferral workflows.

Context Synchronization & Event Integration: Practical experience implementing FHIRCast-based context synchronization and event-driven healthcare integrations (FHIR Pub/Sub or Subscription patterns).

Search & Mapping Engine Mastery: Demonstrated experience implementing semantic search, relevance tuning, and intelligent suggestions with OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, alongside advanced Google Maps Platform features (polygon overlays, geographic search, clustering).

Identity & Master Data Management: Hands-on experience integrating with NetIQ (OAuth2, OIDC, JWT, RBAC) and enterprise Master Data Management (IBM MDM or equivalent).

Cloud & DevOps Ecosystem: Proficiency with AWS cloud services (ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, EventBridge, SNS, SQS, IAM, CloudWatch, Secrets Manager), PostgreSQL, Git, GitHub Actions, and CI/CD pipelines.

Preferred Assets
Clinical Platform Exposure: Experience developing SMART on FHIR applications inside Canadian EMR or HIS environments (e.g., Epic, Oracle Health/Cerner, MEDITECH).
