Located along the beautiful shores of Georgian Bay in Simcoe County, the Town of Wasaga Beach is home to the world's longest freshwater beach.  The Town of Wasaga Beach is seeking a creative, energetic and self-motivated individual to perform the duties and responsibilities of the Part Time Youth Assistant .

Position Overview:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Recreation Services and the Youth Programmer, the Youth Centre Assistants will work as a team and be responsible for the controlled entry access; supervision, guidance and direction of the youth membership; and safe, smooth operation of the Youth Centre and its schedule. Contributing to the creation, implementation and evaluation of a variety of recreation programs for youth. All duties must be performed in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Municipal policies, procedures and practices.

Education and Training:

• High school diploma and post-secondary education in recreation and leisure services, sport administration, child and youth worker, social studies or equivalent;
• Coaching experience in sport and certifications through NCCP or other sport specific accreditation including Hi Five, considered an asset;
• Valid Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C certification required.

Experience & Skills:

• One (1) year of previous related job experience working with youth 12 to 17 years of age;
• Experience facilitating and delivering various recreation programs, such as: sports programs, drama/crafts and musical programs, youth events and tournaments considered an asset;
• Experience with committees considered an asset; 
• Strong social media skills and a proven record of success in promoting youth activities; 
• Strong interpersonal and effective written and verbal communication skills are required;
• Effective problem solving and conflict management skills are required;
• Ability to lead, work with and contribute positively to a service oriented team.

Other Requirements:

• General knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act;
• A current, acceptable Criminal Reference Record – Vulnerable Sector; 
• Valid Ontario driver’s license in good standing and ability to provide an acceptable driver’s abstract;
• Ability to work afternoons and weekends when the Youth Centre is open or for special events.

Rate of Pay Range: $31.20 - $36.50 per hour
