Safety & Compliance Officer

Employment Type: Full-Time, In-Office
Compensation: $23.00–$28.00 per hour, based on experience

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive  Safety & Compliance Officer to support our growing operations. This position will play an important role in maintaining workplace safety standards, monitoring regulatory compliance, managing documentation, and supporting our Operations and HR teams.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable working with policies and regulations, and confident communicating with employees and supervisors regarding safety and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and support compliance with company safety policies and applicable workplace regulations.
• Maintain accurate safety, compliance, training, and incident documentation.
• Review employee safety documentation and ensure required records are complete and up to date.
• Assist with workplace incident and accident investigations, including collecting reports, documentation, photos, and supporting information.
• Track corrective actions following incidents, inspections, audits, or safety concerns.
• Monitor employee completion of required safety and compliance training.
• Assist with the administration of workplace injury and workers' compensation documentation.
• Conduct regular reviews of safety records and identify missing or expired documentation.
• Support vehicle and driver compliance documentation where applicable.
• Assist with internal safety audits and workplace inspections.
• Track safety violations and work with supervisors to ensure appropriate coaching and corrective actions are completed.
• Prepare safety and compliance reports for management.
• Assist with the development, implementation, and updating of safety policies, procedures, SOPs, and emergency response plans.
• Communicate safety expectations and regulatory requirements to employees and supervisors.
• Coordinate with Operations, HR, Maintenance, and management to address safety concerns.
• Maintain organized electronic and physical compliance records.
• Support additional administrative and compliance responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in  safety, compliance, transportation, logistics, construction, industrial operations, or administration is an asset.
• Knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations is an asset.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable working with Microsoft Office, Excel, Teams, and other digital platforms.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow up on outstanding items.
• Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information.
• Comfortable communicating with employees, supervisors, and management.
• Bilingual  English/French is considered a strong asset.
• Safety or compliance certifications are considered an asset but are not required.
