Project 10 is currently looking to hire a Finance Manager to lead the organization’s finances in
a proactive, organized and collaborative manner. Project 10 works to promote the personal,
social, sexual and mental well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, transsexual,
two-spirit, intersex and questioning (2SLGBTQ+) youth and adults 14-25. Through advocacy
and education, using a harm reduction approach, Project 10 aims to facilitate the empowerment
of youth at individual, community, and institutional levels with a particular emphasis on
supporting individuals and groups who experience multiple and intersecting oppressions.
Services are free of charge, confidential and anonymous, and are offered in English and French.

Terms
● $46,800 annually
● 30 hrs per week with the possibility of hybrid work
● Permanent position

four weeks in advance, with the authorization of the Executive Director; Two
weeks are to be taken during the period when Project 10 is closed (one (1) week
during the month of August and one (1) week during the month of December.
○ Unlimited personal day, grief days, special paid leave, leave of absence,
professional development sabbatical, and religious holidays as per our
personnel policy
This position works in collaboration with the Executive Director to ensure the financial
sustainability of the organization. The main goals of their role are to ensure up-to-date financial
entries in our accounting systems, accurate financial reporting to our grant providers, and
financial transparency to our membership.
Financial administration (70%)
● Ensure strong financial management and oversight, with an eye to mitigating risks
● Manage relationships with external auditors and financial experts
● Ensure the proper processing of petty cash, payroll, accounts payable and receivable
● Ensure that employee remittances and other government payments are filed on time
● Ensure that tax reports and associated documents are filed, in partnership with the
accountant
● Provide monthly updates in terms of finance
● Accounts Payable: Properly classify and enter invoices and receipts into Xero, prepare
cheques, and process direct deposits and employee reimbursements.
● Ensuring the P10 staff team has the necessary information to make sound purchasing &
hiring decisions
● Month Close: ensure timely reporting and reconciliation.
● Review of financial documentation
○ Answer emails from clients & staff team concerning invoices and payments,
escalating to the Executive Director for resolution if necessary
○ Review contracts, invoices, etc, as needed
Financial reporting (20%)
● Reporting to grant providers: Working in collaboration with the Executive Director to
prepare financial balance sheets for grants and oversee the creation & submission of
relevant reports to funders
● Quarterly financial report back: Providing the Executive Director with the quarterly
financial reports back to provide to the board and staff team
● Year-End: Preparing annual financial statements and disclosures, including working with
external auditors in collaboration with the Executive Director
○ Ensure the submission of the T3010 report to the registered charities directorate
with the external auditor and financial advisors
● Applying for GST and QST reimbursement
Financial planning (10%)
● Budgeting & Control: Support the Executive Director in the preparation of annual budgets
● Support the fundraising strategy
○ Ensure proper processing of donations, adequate issuing of tax receipts and
thank you cards for donors in partnership with the team
○ Ensure confidentiality of donor information
○ Identify and prioritize grants that support existing operations/core costs
○ Collaborate with the external consultancy team and the incoming Board to
identify and apply for other funding opportunities that arise
○ Oversee an annual fundraising campaign geared toward individuals
Assets

don’t expect you to know everything right out of the gate, but we are looking for someone who brings
passion and experience to help us improve our financial systems. For that reason, we encourage

● Proven track record of working as an independent financial contractor or bookkeeper in
similar environments
● Proficient in Excel, Word, and Google Suite
● Previous experience with accounting software like Xero or Sage
● Previous experience working in any of the following: 2SLGBTQI+ organization, youth
organization, BIPOC organization, health and social services organization, direct service
provision organization, etc.
● Bachelor's degree in finance or related field; advanced degree or relevant certification
(e.g., CPA)
● Experience in non-profit finance, including grant management and compliance.
● Proven leadership and management skills for overseeing finance teams.
● Ability to adapt to changing financial circumstances and find solutions to financial
challenges.
● Effective time and project management capabilities.
Requirements
● Available to work in person in Montreal (at the P10 offices in the neighbourhood of
Ahuntsic)
● Lived experience in 2SLGBTQI+ communities;
● Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a management, coordination or administrative
position in the non-profit sector, specifically with experience in supporting and
supervising staff;
● Functional bilingualism, e.g. ability to converse with members and partners comfortably
in French and English, ability to write grants in French and English;
● Commitment to upholding the bylaws, policies, values and approaches of the
organization;
● Past experience in contributing to and upholding an anti-oppressive, equitable
workplace;
● Strong, organized financial management and oversight skills;
● Strong ability to communicate and act in a professional and ethical way;
● Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities simultaneously;
● Collaborative, confident leadership style;
● Previous experience recruiting, supervising, supporting, and, when necessary,
overseeing disciplinary actions with staff;
● Strong group facilitation skills and past experience with consensus-based
decision-making.
● Comfortable with potentially working with staff partially in person and partially remotely;
