Houdini Workflow Technical Director

Build Houdini workflows for Image Engine in Vancouver, supporting artists and TDs through Python tools and production troubleshooting. This is a one-year project contract.The Houdini Workflow TD supports FX and other Houdini-using departments, including CFX, Grooming, Modelling, and Environment. You translate show requirements into reusable tools, maintain HDAs and templates, and improve facility workflows. The work combines CG shot production understanding with communication across artists, supervisors, production staff, developers, IT, and vendors.Key Responsibilities:
Develop and support Houdini tools, HDAs, and templatesGuide, educate, and support Houdini users across departmentsStandardize workflows across shows and departmentsTriage production issues and communicate required technical solutionsDocument processes and support adoption of new technologiesRequirements:
Experience developing tools for VFX feature filmsStrong Python and Houdini tool development experienceAdvanced knowledge of Gaffer, Katana, or Houdini SolarisWorking knowledge of Maya, Nuke, Arnold, Shotgun, and RVStrong understanding of CG shot production workflowsApply Houdini, Python, workflow design, and troubleshooting expertise to Image Engine’s Vancouver visual effects pipeline.
