The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Maintenance Apprentice - Welder to join our Mobile Maintenance Team in Voisey's Bay, Labrador, a fly-in fly-out operation.

The role is a permanent on-site position , 2 weeks on, 2 weeks of rotational schedule.

As a Maintenance Apprentice - Welder you will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on a diverse fleet of mobile equipment as well as assisting other maintenance employees as required. The Maintenance Apprentice – Welder will also be responsible for repairing, troubleshooting, adjusting, overhauling, servicing, and maintaining mobile equipment.

Additionally, in this position you will:

• Perform preventive checks according to preventive maintenance plans on surface and underground mobile equipment including Loaders, Excavators, Drills, Haul Trucks, any other mobile equipment for proper performance defects and malfunctions.
• Complete breakdown, corrective, and minor repairs and adjust, repair, or replace defective parts and components of the equipment systems.
• Inspect, examine, and test parts and equipment in order to recommend the extent and nature of the work to be done.
• Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment.
• Fabricate equipment, parts or components to engineered specifications.
• Conduct final inspections to ensure that work detailed on the work order has been completed to meet safety standards.
• Improve equipment availability and efficiency through quality maintenance and failure analysis.

About You

Education:

• College diploma in Welder is required.
• Qualify or be registered as an apprentice Level 1, 2, 3, or 4 within the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Experience:

• Minimum of 9 months of Welding knowledge and experience from a college.

• Previous experience working in a mobile equipment maintenance department would be considered an asset.
• Previous mining experience would be considered an asset.

Skills:

• Demonstrated willingness to learn and develop new skills.
