The Ministry of Social Services is seeking Emergency Duty Workers to provide after-hours emergency support to families in Yorkton and area. This permanent part-time role offers a competitive hourly wage and flexible, on-call hours based on service demand, with a focus on delivering critical child and family services and supporting vulnerable individuals. Reporting to a Child and Family Supervisor, employees contribute to public service excellence by promoting safety, stability, and positive outcomes for children and families while working collaboratively with community and Indigenous partners.
The ideal candidate is adaptable, accountable, and client-focused, with strong judgment and the ability to respond effectively in crisis situations. They demonstrate collaboration, communication, and critical thinking skills, value diverse perspectives, and operate with professionalism and integrity. The role requires flexibility to work irregular hours, travel across rural and urban areas, and independently manage emergency situations involving children and families. Candidates require knowledge of human services policies, practices, and procedures, typically gained through a diploma or degree in a related field and/or relevant experience in a human service setting. Strong interviewing, assessment, case planning, documentation, and risk evaluation skills are essential, along with the ability to coordinate community resources and de-escalate crises. A valid drivers license is required, as well as the ability to travel and lift small children. Core competencies include communication, digital literacy, adaptability, and organizational awareness.
