Job Responsibility: Position: Assistant to the Prosecutor Start Date: As soon as possible Employment Status: Full-time Reporting To: Manager of Court Services Union Affiliation: Non-union Posting Date: May 28, 2024 Closing Date June 11, 2024 at 4:30pm Position Summary: Perth County is recruiting for the position of Assistant to the Prosecutor to join the Legal/Court Services division. This position is primarily responsible for providing administrative support services to the Provincial Offences Prosecutor. Primary Responsibilities:

• Answer enquiries and responds to requests from defendants, agents, counsel and prosecutors
• Assist with prosecutors' technological requirements, including managing electronic files and scheduling pre-court resolution meetings, electronic or telephone (in person when they are permitted)
• Receive and review electronic documents including briefs
• Prepare files for the prosecutor
• Using the court dockets provided by Court Services, confirm all briefs have been received prior to each resolution date and court date
• Using the final court dockets provided by Court Services, follow up with any post-court requirements, schedule appointments, note the file, then file the briefs in next appearance date
• Draft correspondence, reports, memos and documents as directed
• Assess documents for disclosure
• Prepare, provide, and track disclosure
• Prepare exhibits for filing with the court
• Assist prosecution with break-out rooms during zoom court appearances
• Maintain a high level of confidentiality
• Act as back-up for front counter reception as required
• Provide excellent and professional customer service
• Respond to general inquiries on behalf of the County, observe utmost confidentiality concerning discussions, correspondence and other written materials
• Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety practices and County of Perth policies and procedures; wear any personal protective equipment required to ensure personal safety and report any known hazards and/or incidents in the workplace to immediate Supervisor
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• College diploma in Legal Administration or Business Administration
• Paralegal licence an asset
• 2 years of work-related experience
• Advanced proficiency in using Microsoft Office software
• Ability to learn to operate the provincial ICON computer system.
• Ability to learn to operate CAMS (Court Administration Management System)
• Excellent verbal and written skills
• Requires a high degree of professionalism, empathy, sensitivity, tact and excellent judgment
• Ability to maintain the decorum of the court and to remain impartial during exchanges with challenging clients
• Ability to interact with legal professionals and defendants in a professional manner
• Multi-tasking is mandatory due to the variety and volume of work

Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (35 hours per week) Salary Range: $56,875.00 - $66,575.60 (based on Perth County's 2024 salary grid). Our Benefits:
