Assistant Corporate Secretary in Ottawa

Become an integral part of the Canadian Commercial Corporation as an Assistant Corporate Secretary in Ottawa. This hybrid role supports governance practices and ensures that the Board of Directors meets its fiduciary obligations. Reporting to the Vice-President Legal Services and General Counsel, the Assistant Corporate Secretary plays a vital role in supporting governance for the organization. You will provide strategic guidance on Board matters, draft legal interpretations of governance obligations, and ensure compliance with corporate policies. A strong focus on maintaining relationships across government agencies and internal teams is essential for success. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide governance advice to the Board of Directors
- Prepare agendas and document meeting outcomes
- Draft Board resolutions and minutes accurately
- Support Board succession planning and recruitment
- Monitor compliance with governance best practices
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business
- 3+ years in corporate governance or federal public service
- Knowledge of Board governance and policies
- Familiarity with MS365 and discipline-specific software
- Strong communication and organizational skills
