REASON FOR VACANCY

Existing vacancy JOB OVERVIEWPerform custodian duties as assigned by supervisor such as minor preventive maintenance, attending to the needs of permits and assisting the Lead Hand and co-workers to maintain a high standard of cleanliness, sanitization and safety.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Open/secure building and/or areas assigned during and at the end of shift as required. Attend to the needs of community groups using the school by giving directions and setting up equipment in accordance with permit specifications and the Lead Hand’s instructions. Sweep, mop, vacuum, spray buff, burnish, pick up and take out garbage, dusting and empty pencil sharpeners. Ensure recycling is taken to curbside/designated collection area as required. Maintain school grounds by picking up debris, cutting grass, raking leaves and weeding flower beds. Keep all access clean and areas safe by sweeping, shoveling and salting. Perform duties in accordance with the Board’s Custodial and Safety Manuals and the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Log any project work done in the cleaning schedule records.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum completion of a secondary school diploma, or equivalent. Minimum three (3) months of related experience. Must possess a valid driving license and have access to reliable transportation to various sites within the Board’s jurisdiction.
