Software Development Manager

What We Need

Corpay is currently looking to hire a Software Development Manager within our Corporate Payments division. This position falls under our Corpay Cross Border line of business and is located in Toronto, ON.

In this role, you will lead by example and provide technical leadership to an agile development team focused on delivering scalable, secure, and innovative software solutions. You will play a key role in driving growth, technical excellence, maintainability, and engineering best practices while ensuring the successful delivery of product initiatives.

You are passionate about building new products, navigating business requirements, and transforming them into technology solutions. Your responsibilities will include prototyping, designing, reviewing, maintaining, and unit testing code that you and your team will deliver to production environments.

Role Responsibilities

  • Working with business stakeholders to understand requirements and resolve technical questions.
  • Leading, mentoring, and supporting engineers in their professional growth and development.
  • Maintaining a high standard of code quality across the team.
  • Conducting code reviews and providing technical guidance and contributions.
  • Reviewing technical decisions to ensure alignment with architectural standards and strategic direction.
  • Analyzing current and emerging technologies to determine the best approaches for delivering products and services safely and effectively.
  • Participating in high‑level architecture and design discussions while helping define technical standards and best practices.
  • Building and maintaining robust, scalable, and high‑performance software solutions.
  • Prototyping, evaluating, and troubleshooting new technologies.
  • Driving technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Supporting the planning, estimation, and successful delivery of product features and enhancements.
  • Collaborating closely with Product Owners, Developers, QA teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Promoting secure development practices and ensuring adherence to software engineering standards.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve system performance, scalability, reliability, and development processes.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Mandatory experience in the financial services industry, payments, foreign exchange (FX), or fintech sectors.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience working as a Technical Lead, Engineering Lead, or Software Development Manager in a similar capacity.
  • Strong experience in .NET design and development, focusing on line‑of‑business desktop and web applications.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and relational database design principles.
  • Experience with unit testing frameworks and software testing methodologies.
  • Experience designing, consuming, and maintaining web APIs.
  • Solid understanding of software design principles, architecture patterns, and engineering best practices.
  • Experience with distributed software architecture and system design.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Product‑oriented mindset with a desire to understand the business problems being solved.
  • Commitment to quality, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Proven ability to improve system performance, scalability, and development processes.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and helping teams grow.
  • Ability to reduce ambiguity, define scope, estimate work, and drive successful project delivery.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong understanding of payment processing systems, financial platforms, and transaction‑based applications.
  • Quick learner with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.

Pay Transparency

The expected salary range for this position is CAD $150,000 - $170,000 based on the candidate’s work location. This range reflects a good faith estimate of the expected compensation for this role at the time of posting. The final offer will be determined based on job‑related factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and applicable market conditions. Compensation may vary based on geographic location and will be confirmed during the hiring process.

Additional compensation and benefits, including incentive programs, health coverage, retirement plans, paid time off, and other benefits (where applicable), may also be provided.
