Responsibilities
Tasks
- Respond to fire alarms and other calls for assistance
- Control and extinguish fires using manual and power equipment
- Maintain firefighting equipment
- Assist police, the public and emergency organizations during major disasters
- Operate heavy equipment
- Complete reports to record problems and work performed
- Review work orders
- Inspect mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions

- Firefighter Certificate Level I and II
- National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) - level 1
- National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) - level 2
