Expected Start Date: October 19, 2026 Union: HSAS Facility: Sandy Bay Health Centre City/Town: Sandy Bay Department: Addiction Services Community Clinics&Programs Type: Full-time temporary Expected Up to Date: March 10, 2028 FTE: 1 Shift Information: Days, Weekends Number of Hours per Rotation: 42 shifts of 10.67 hours per 12 weeks Relief: No Float: No Hours of Work: Field Hours Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Addictions Counsellor - Diploma $29.584 to $36.176 Travel Required: Yes Job : As a member of the interdisciplinary team, and under the general direction of the Manager of Mental Health and Addictions, the primary goal will be to restore, maintain and enhance the recovery of people seeking help for addiction and/or addiction related issues by implementing various modalities of addiction recovery programs. Responsibilities include providing informational programming as well as individual and group counselling sessions with clients. This position will be expected to assess individual and group needs of clients and implement plans to help clients reach their goals. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement" Human Resources Exemption: No Experience- Minimum of one year experience in addictions/mental health would be desirable
Education
- Mental Health & Addictions Counselling Diploma
Licenses
- Valid Class 5 driver's license
Competencies
- Demonstrated skills w/ Addiction and Concurrent disorders assessment/counseling
- Problem solving skills
Knowledge and Abilities
- Knowledge of screening and addiction assessment tools and procedures.
