If you require information in a format that is accessible to you, please contact View email address on ca.edajobs.com JOB OVERVIEW Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Affiliate Trader , focussed on electricity trading in our Eastern markets. Reporting to the Senior Manager Trading, this position is responsible for managing physical and financial risks. As a member of the Trading team, you will work in collaboration with other team members to collectively meet and exceed financial trading targets. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Deliver financial targets through directly trading financial instruments while managing inherent risks and activities in an electricity trading environment involving physical delivery to and across different ISOs and RTOs;
• Relentlessly research, develop and execute new trading opportunities to continuously grow the business;
• Negotiate with external counterparts regarding the purchase and sale of electricity and related transmission services;
• Support the development of future natural gas supply options and acquire gas supply and related services to meet the requirements of generating stations;
• Work in close collaboration with other groups to identify, develop and support new business opportunities;
• Ensure all transactional activities are carried out in accordance to policies, standards and controls, meeting code of conduct and regulatory compliance;
• Gather competitive market intelligence and conditions;
• Stay abreast of industry and regulatory changes;
• Develop a strong network of contacts with marketers, brokers and counterparts; and
• Provide guidance and support to team members.

EDUCATION

• Bachelor's Degree in Degree in Finance, Math, Engineering, Sciences, Economics or Business Administration; and
• Master's of Business Administration (MBA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation is considered an asset, but not required.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a flexible hybrid office environment.
• Minimum 4-6 years of proprietary trading experience in Eastern Markets and Ontario;
• Proven track record in managing physical flow in Ontario (inc.HQ);
• Financial training, e.g. awareness of technical analysis;
• Understanding of the fundamental markets drivers, secondary influences;
• Understanding of risk management principles & practices;
• Experience in working within the Deal Capture system
• Experience in Bulk Electricity System (BES) operation in addition to fundamental impacts on market price and volatility;
• Proficient computer programming skills and experience with computer applications/software to facilitate business operations;
• Highly motivated, detail oriented and analytical individual;
• Strong communication (oral and written);
• Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to develop relationships and work with internal stakeholders in various functions and at all levels;
• Demonstrated problem solving, time management, and negotiation skills;
• Experience working within a highly standardized process of procedural safety and regulatory compliance; and
• Experience and willingness to work with high performing individuals as part of a trading team; where goals and targets are team based targets vs. individual targets.
