As an experienced engineer, you will be second in command to our senior engineer. Not only is this an amazing opportunity for you to step into a key role that will help you take your career to the next level, but you will also work with bright, junior engineers who are fully capable of supporting you from design to construction. In this role, your primary responsibilities are to lead diverse civil projects, provide detailed design support in production of engineering designs, drawings, and specifications, and assist in pursuit, project management, proposal and delivery of local and regional projects. From our most junior recruits to senior management, we are partners in solving our clients’ challenges while making high impact on our local communities.What You’ll DoProvide detailed production of engineering assessments, designs, drawings and specifications for various municipal and private land development civil projectsDesign opportunities include water and wastewater infrastructure, transportation, retaining structures, erosion protection, grading and drainage design, site servicingWork with our regional transportation planning team to develop to establish a more local presence and gain experience and tutelage from our senior transportation planning teamWork from preliminary concepts and sketches into engineering designs, plans and project informational requirements, using Civil 3D, as well as other technical software as neededCoordinate and assist in the preparation of documents required for approvals, prepare development and construction cost estimates, tender documents and contracts, and coordinate with other team members to ensure schedules, budgets and quality control standards are achievedOversee and/or complete field inspections and construction inspections to monitor the quality and progress of the work being performed What You’ll BringEIT or P.Eng. with 2 - 8 years of experience in a similar roleDegree in Civil Engineering from an accredited universityProficiency in the application of specialized design software such Civil 3DExperience in a consulting engineering environment an asset, but not requiredHigh productivity, attention to detail, and effective verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work well in a collaborative team environmentWhat Can We Offer You?The salary range for this position is $73,000 – 95,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting.
