Be a key player in the protection and enjoyment of Gatineau Park, the capital’s conservation park.
Information Officer Role
As an Information Officer, you will provide accurate information regarding Gatineau Park (and other tourist attractions), suggest routes or activities to visitors, and champion the park’s conservation mission. The role requires working at varying locations within Gatineau Park and engaging with visitors about the Fall Rhapsody program that takes place on weekends during the fall.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
- Completed secondary education.
- Enrolled in a post‑secondary program for the Fall 2025 semester.
- Fluently bilingual in both official languages.
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES
- Strong interpersonal communication skills in individual or group settings.
- Relevant experience working with the public in client or information services or tourism.
- Good knowledge of Gatineau Park and the National Capital Region as a tourism destination.
- Knowledge of the NCC’s mandate and activities.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Part‑time position up to 22.5 hours per week.
- Must be available from September 2 to October 31, every weekend and civic holiday, including the Thanksgiving long weekend.
- Uniform will be provided by the NCC.
- Willingness to work outside in varying weather conditions.
- Must attend mandatory paid training sessions for Information Officers at the Gatineau Park Visitor Centre.
- Must arrange own means of transportation to the assigned work location; public transportation is not available.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Report to the Project Officer of Sustainable Transportation.
- Welcome and inform visitors about the different activities during Fall Rhapsody weekends, including programs, services, and points of interest.
- Provide information on road closures during the event.
- Answer information requests from visitors.
- Offer wayfinding information within the Park.
- Collect visitor comments and suggestions.
- Contribute to service evaluation by suggesting modifications or improvements to activities, exhibits, program material, or other.
MANDATORY APPLICATION GUIDELINES
Submit a cover letter and an updated résumé. The cover letter should include the number of years of post‑secondary study you will have completed by August 2025 and the program of study in which you are enrolled. Only full‑time students in the Fall 2025 semester will be considered.
