Nanny Wanted - Seeking Flexible Nanny: Driving, Cooking, Cleaning, And Caretaking With Flexibility For Additional Family Support Duties

CanadianNanny.ca

About Us We’re an active, down-to-earth family in the Edgemont neighbourhood of North Vancouver, looking for a flexible, responsible, and capable nanny / au pair to become part of our household. This is a broad, hands-on role—best described, only half-jokingly, as helping manage everything needed to keep a busy family running smoothly. If you take initiative, enjoy the outdoors, and are comfortable pitching in wherever needed, you’ll feel at home with us. Our Family Our household includes two parents—stepdad and mum—both busy professionals, and two children: a 16-year-old son and a 12-year-old daughter. Our son is independent and generally self-sufficient. He benefits from routine and occasional reminders and loves fishing, kiteboarding, mountain biking, and snowboarding. Our daughter is social, energetic, and closely connected to family life. She participates in several activities, with ski racing as her main passion. Both children attend school in West Vancouver, are strong academically, and split their time between our home and their dad’s home. Occasional homework help may be needed. We also have a young cat who needs daily feeding, litter care, and attention. Our Home and Neighbourhood We live in a spacious Edgemont home with mountain views and a lovely yard. You will have a private bedroom and share a lockable bathroom with our daughter. You will have access to our family SUV for transporting the children and for reasonable local personal use at no cost. Our previous nanny / au pair became an important part of our family, and we hope to continue that welcoming dynamic. North Vancouver offers outstanding access to skiing, hiking, mountain biking, beaches, and downtown Vancouver. Edgemont is safe and welcoming, with excellent local amenities and public transit. How We Spend Our Time We regularly mountain bike, hike, ski, and road cycle. During ski season, we spend most weekends at our second home in Whistler. At times, you may travel with the family or take one or both children there yourself. A typical Whistler weekend may involve driving up Thursday or Friday and returning Sunday. You may be responsible for meals, household support, caring for whoever is there, and driving the children to and from the ski hill. Details will be discussed in advance. A Typical Week Weekdays usually begin with helping the children get organized and ready for school, then driving them to school in West Vancouver. During school hours, you will help keep the household running smoothly through laundry, cleaning, tidying, grocery shopping, online orders, errands, meal preparation, and other household tasks. Responsibilities vary, and there is often downtime between tasks. In the afternoon, you will pick up the children, prepare snacks, and drive them to activities as needed. Preparing dinner will be a regular weekday responsibility. When the children are at their dad’s home, things are quieter, although cooking, laundry, cleaning, errands, and general household support remain part of the routine. Responsibilities, Schedule, and Compensation We guarantee a minimum of 25 paid hours per week. The role will often be 30–35 hours, depending on school activities, travel, and family needs. Hours are paid at an agreed hourly rate. Full room and board are included, along with reasonable local personal use of the family SUV at no cost. We will plan schedules in advance wherever possible, but flexibility is important because school, work, activities, and ski-season plans can change. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Cooking dinner and other meals as required
  • General housekeeping, cleaning, tidying, and organization
  • Managing family laundry
  • Grocery shopping, online ordering, and errands
  • Driving the children to school and activities
  • Helping the children stay organized and on schedule
  • Occasional homework support
  • Caring for our cat
  • Supporting the household when the children are at their dad’s home
  • Travelling to Whistler when required
  • Taking initiative to identify and complete household tasks
A valid driver’s licence and strong, safe driving record are essential. What Else You Should Know We do not have major dietary allergies, although we have some food preferences. We will plan meals together. This is not a traditional nanny role involving young children who need constant supervision. Our children are older and increasingly independent. The role combines nanny, au pair, household assistant, driver, cook, organizer, and household manager. You will play a meaningful role in the children’s lives, particularly with our daughter, but the core of the position is helping the family and household operate smoothly. We are looking for someone independent, adaptable, organized, warm, practical, and comfortable taking responsibility. If this sounds like a household and lifestyle you would enjoy being part of, we would love to connect with you. Please visit to view full details and to apply.
