The Position
Reporting to the Health and Hygiene Supervisor, the Registered Practical Nurse provides emergency care for all occupational injuries and non-occupational illnesses and provides health monitoring and teaching to maintain and promote health.
Key Responsibilities
The incumbent will be responsible to:
- Provide a wide variety of nursing services, and to document nursing care given
- Provide emergency nursing care for all occupational and non-occupational injury or illness
- Provide continuing nursing care to hasten recovery
- Provide individual health monitoring and teaching to maintain and promote health
- Assist with research for WSIB claims as required
- Schedule employees for medical surveillance and testing
- Perform respirator fit testing, audiometry, pre-placement assessments
- Maintain computer records, and maintain proper filing of medical reports
- Serve as first-line emergency response
- Perform a number of other non-medical duties
Skills And Qualifications
The ideal Candidate will have:
- A valid Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario, CPR certification, and Administration of Medications certification.
- First Aid and Audiometry certification is desirable but will be provided if necessary.
- Previous nursing experience is essential.
- Capable of working independently in a self-directed manner and comfortable working in a confidential manner and controlling confidential material.
- Capable of responding to emergency situations quickly and calmly, and of directing non-medical personnel during emergencies.
Compensation And Benefits
Competitive total compensation package including:

- Company contributions and matching into a Defined Contribution Pension Plan; and
- Annual compensation of CAD$63,000 to CAD$80,000.
