Embedded Software Designer in Ottawa

Contribute to cutting-edge Optical Transport products as an Embedded Software Designer at Zhone Technologies in Ottawa, ON. This hybrid role involves essential Linux system maintenance and kernel upgrades. As part of a dynamic development team, your expertise will enhance embedded software design and development. You will maintain Linux systems, upgrade kernels, and facilitate integration with third-party libraries. Collaborating closely with FPGA designers, you ensure robust software support and timely debugging for new features. Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and upgrade Linux From Scratch (LFS) systems
- Backport patches and maintain drivers for Linux kernel
- Configure and build early boot firmware as needed
- Integrate 3rd party vendor libraries smoothly
- Support hardware teams with low-level software commands
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
- 5+ years of embedded software development experience
- Proficient in C and Linux operating systems
- Knowledge of Bash scripting language
- Strong troubleshooting skills with embedded systems
