Senior Software Developer, AI/ML, Conversational Insights

Location: Waterloo, ON, Canada; Toronto, ON, Canada

Level: Mid

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement investigative tools for AI Agent performance.
• Design and build recommendation systems for AI Agents.
• Develop skill discovery and matching capabilities for AI Agents.
• Manage stakeholders effectively and solve ambiguous technical challenges, contributing to the overall strategy and roadmap for the team.
• Provide coaching to team members and contribute to Google’s culture and operations.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience in software development.
• 5 years of experience testing and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
• 5 years of experience with one or more of the following: Speech/audio technology duplicating and responding to the human voice, reinforcement learning (sequential decision making), ML infrastructure, or specialization in another ML field.
• 5 years of experience with ML design and ML infrastructure (model deployment, model evaluation, data processing, debugging, fine tuning).

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
• 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross‑functional or cross‑business projects.
• 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.

Compensation

The Canada base salary range for this full‑time position is CAD 182,000-187,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.
