Produce Clerk

Job Responsibility:

Pembina West Co-op is a local community employer with retail locations in Barrhead, Mayerthorpe and Whitecourt, Alberta. Our services include two Food Stores, a Pharmacy with full clinical services, a Liquor Store, three Cardlocks, a Home Centre and Lumber Yard equipped with an extensive feed and agricultural department and a Gas Bar / Convenience Store. Our sales in 2018 were $82.5 million.

Position Summary:

The Produce Clerk will have a heavy focus in the preparation and display of fresh produce within the produce department. Collaborating with the Produce Manager, the Produce Clerk will forecast sales and production needs and ensure adequate amount of product is pulled in preparation for daily sales. Successful candidate will be responsible for the proper cleaning and sanitation of their workstations as per food safe policies, and ensure all displays, products, and services comply with company standards. Other duties include preparing eye catching party trays, working within the full scope of the produce department and delivering an exceptional shopping experience to our customers.

The successful candidates must be production-focused individuals, whom possess excellent communication, organization, time management and sales skills, and thrive during early mornings. Related experience in the Co-operative Retailing System with a sound knowledge of the food industry is preferred. Previous retail experience is considered an asset. Candidates must be physically fit as heavy lifting on a repeated basis is required.

Part time is available with a variety of shifts and hours (days, evenings and weekends)
