Job Description

Join WSP as an Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer in our Ground Engineering and Materials team based in Whitehorse, YT . This role blends hands‑on fieldwork with office‑based analysis and design, supporting a diverse portfolio of geotechnical projects across the Yukon and northern British Columbia . You’ll collaborate with technical experts, contribute to major northern infrastructure initiatives, and play a key role in advancing our regional project delivery.

Your Impact

  • Lead and participate in field programs including borehole drilling, test pitting, in situ testing, instrumentation installation, and construction monitoring.
  • Analyze geotechnical and geological data to develop recommendations for foundations, retaining structures, earthworks, pavements, and slope stability.
  • Prepare clear, defensible technical reports such as investigations, design briefs, and construction documentation.
  • Provide geotechnical input to multidisciplinary teams and support innovative, data‑driven solutions.
  • Mentor junior staff in field methods, analysis techniques, and safety practices.
  • Build strong client relationships through responsive, reliable engineering advice.
  • Support quality assurance processes, project coordination, and continuous improvement in geotechnical practice.

The Skills That Set You Apart

Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering with a geotechnical focus.

Registration as an EIT in Canada, with relevant Canadian consulting experience.

Minimum three (3) years of experience as a Geotechnical or Geological Engineer‑in‑training.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $77,400 – $102,500

MB & ON: $70,600 – $97,200

NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $69,900 – $92,900

Disclosure: The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. The wage range provided may be subject to change for business purposes.
