Lead Engineer, Capital Projects (Timmins)

Lake Shore Gold, a subsidiary of Pan American Silver, is located in Timmins, Ontario. The company operates the Bell Creek and Timmins West mines as part of a leading gold mining operation.

About the Opportunity

The Lead Engineer, Capital Projects will play a key role in the Bell Creek Shafts expansion project from design through close‑out. The position is full‑time, Monday‑Friday, with a work schedule of either 8 hrs/day or 4/3 on‑off, 10 hrs/day. The role requires relocation to Timmins and is not a camp‑based position.

Responsibilities

• Support implementation of capital projects during design, build, and close‑out phases.
• Produce accurate, timely reporting on project phases, milestones, and present updates to senior management and corporate personnel.
• Act as liaison between Mechanical, Structural, and Electrical Engineering consultants and the execution team.
• Ensure QA/QC on all new installations.
• Produce and update project schedules using project planning software.
• Assist with development, optimization, and implementation of project plans to achieve budget, schedule, and safety goals.
• Supervise engineering staff and ensure timely production of layouts, prints, and drawings.
• Monitor progress and report performance against the project plan.
• Measure Earned Value and facilitate daily/weekly planning meetings with contractors.
• Monitor compliance with engineering codes, safety, and environmental standards.
• Troubleshoot problems, analyze options, and recommend solutions.
• Evaluate alternative execution methods and provide cost/benefit recommendations.
• Coordinate special projects and manage project planning, scheduling, and budgeting in collaboration with Mine Operations and Contractors.

Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Engineer or equivalent technical qualification.
• 5+ years of experience in underground mining.
• 10+ years of engineering and/or project management experience.
• Project experience in mining projects.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is an asset.
• Knowledge of tendering/procurement practices.
• Strong leadership and team‑leadership experience.
• Demonstrated ability to drive projects forward and manage critical timelines.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with project planning software (MS Project, Primavera, Excel, Deswik).
• Eligible to work in Canada.
