Position Overview

Peguis Child and Family Services is seeking caring, dependable Respite Workers to provide direct care and supervision to children and youth in Specialized Foster Homes. This position supports children with a range of needs by maintaining a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.

We are specifically looking for applicants who are available to work the following shifts:

Monday to Friday

• 4:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.
• 12:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.

Saturday and Sunday

• 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
• 8:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.

The ideal candidate is patient, professional, reliable, and committed to supporting vulnerable children and youth, including those with complex behavioural and high-risk needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide active supervision and ensure children's safety and well-being.
• Be a positive role model and respond appropriately during crises.
• Assist with daily routines, meals, hygiene, household chores, and recreation.
• Administer medications as directed and maintain accurate documentation.
• Transport children to appointments and activities as required.
• Complete daily logs and incident reports in accordance with Agency policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with children and youth.
• Valid First Aid/CPR (or willingness to obtain).
• Valid driver's license and reliable insured vehicle ($2 million liability).
• Ability to work the required shifts.
• Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector), Child Abuse Registry, Adult Abuse Registry, drug screening, and prior contact checks
