Principal Engineer - Tunneling Expert at AECOM

Lead the design of innovative underground infrastructure at AECOM in Markham, ON. This role focuses on large rock caverns and pressurized water conveyance systems for major projects. As a Principal Engineer, you will bring extensive experience in analyzing and designing complex underground structures. Your expertise in rock mechanics, geotechnical parameters, and numerical analysis will guide a multidisciplinary team. This is a newly created position that will significantly impact the delivery of better water infrastructure across Canada. Key Responsibilities:

• Lead design efforts for rock caverns and pressurized tunnels
• Perform 2D/3D structural analyses for tunnels and shafts
• Develop technical concepts for underground works
• Provide guidance on rock mass characterization and geotechnical design
• Coordinate with teams and mentor junior engineers

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or related Engineering
• 6+ years of experience in underground design
• P.Eng. certification in ON or equivalent eligibility
• Strong skills in rock mechanics and structural design
• Experience in major infrastructure projects preferred
