Equivalent to 6 hours per day student days

Duties

• Support students with diverse needs and/or high behavioral needs.
• Perform additional duties detailed in the job description (e.g., lift up to 60 pounds manually, up to 120 pounds with a 2‑man lift or mechanical lift).
• Transport students (personal vehicle may be required).
• Attend to personal hygiene and medical needs as required.
• Prepare and plan student‑based life skills and academic programming under direction of teacher.
• Focus on successfully transitioning the student to work with other students and adults.
• Implement behaviour and safety plan created specifically for students as required.
• Supervise intensive‑needs student(s) as well as small groups of students as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 12 diploma from an institution recognized by the Board of Education.
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to change and be flexible.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as an effective team member.
• Valid driver's license.
• Demonstrated knowledge of school computer software such as word processing and computer assisted learning software.
• Educational assistant or equivalent diploma, NVCI, First Aid, Autism and Behavioral educational background will be considered assets.
• Commitment to the ideals of public education as well as the mission, vision and guiding principles of the South East Cornerstone Public School Division.

Salary & Benefits

Salary and benefits are in accordance with the currently negotiated CUPE Collective Agreement as listed on our website. The starting wage for this position is currently $20.12/hour along with a full benefit package and an employer defined pension plan.
