Sessional Lecturer - MMI1030H Marketing Science

The forces and dynamics of today’s market are making the marketing task more complex and competitive. In this context, a successful marketing strategy involves complementing the basic elements of marketing mix, with analyzed data, and appropriate models and simulations incorporated in a consistent and professional way.

This course will introduce students to core elements of marketing strategy, as well as the skills needed to make intelligent use of data in decision-making related to marketing functions and strategies. The course materials and contents will be a combination of lectures, cases, business articles from reliable sources on the internet (e.g. Business Insider, Forbes, etc.) and “hands-on” exercises with actual business data and widely used statistical and mathematical models.

Sessional dates of appointment:  September 1, 2026 - December 31, 2026

Salary: $19,105 (including 4% vacation pay)

Qualifications:  Preferred qualifications are an advanced degree (Master’s or Doctorate) in a relevant discipline (completed), or for non-University of Toronto graduate students, in progress, or relevant qualifications, professional designation or professional experience; an MBA is highly preferable. We are seeking previous experience in teaching, teaching excellence, and mastery of the subject area. Previous experience in teaching a similar course is highly desirable.

Duties: The duties of the Course Instructor shall include the normal duties associated with the design and teaching of university degree credit courses or sections of courses. These include the preparation and delivery of course content, including lectures and/or seminars; the creation of courseware; the development and administration of assignments, tests and examinations; the marking and grading of student work and the submission of grades to appropriate University officials in accordance with policy; the maintenance of reasonable hours of student contact outside of scheduled contact hours; and the supervision of the day-to-day work of any Teaching Assistants assigned to the course.
