You will report to Rubicon’s President, work directly with our CEO, Partners and the broader consulting team comprised of Consultants, Account Directors, Vice Presidents and Senior Vice Presidents. RESPONSIBILITIES

• Monitor key provincial government announcements across Canada. Specific focus on Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario.
• Monitor Ontario and Alberta Provincial Legislature’s daily Question Period, committees, and legislation and write briefing materials (such as, but not limited to, reports, executive summaries, and briefing notes with a particular emphasis on files relevant to our client’s needs).
• Use traditional and social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, to monitor all provincial governments. Ability to learn internal programs in monitoring news sources, government resources, and social media platforms.
• Maintain Alberta Lobbyist Registry for all consultants who actively lobby in Alberta and ensure compliance with all rules and regulations.
• Undertake direct lobbying activities and meetings under the guidance of the account lead to help in client advocacy efforts.
• Assist in coordinating meetings with government in Alberta, clients or for new business, with the ability to effectively pivot to assist in managing schedules and last-minute changes.
• Planning and preparing for meetings and interactions by working with the consulting team to prepare background materials, briefing notes, and miscellaneous collateral.
• Fostering and maintaining positive and professional relationships with political staff and public servants in Alberta and incorporating networking into your day-to-day activities in a manner that promotes the reputation of the firm.

SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES:

• University degree or college diploma in a related field and/or prior experience with a lobbying firm or federal/provincial/municipal government.
• Must be able to demonstrate contacts within the Alberta Provincial Government
• Understanding of all provincial decision-making processes and functions.
• Experience and understanding of the importance of managing sensitive or confidential information and issues.
• Strong writing ability and proficiency with all MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
• Strong communication skills, including presentation skills and the ability to communicate professionally, clearly, and concisely.
• Comply with all rules and regulations for lobbyists.
• Excellent research, time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
• Proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications, multiple social media and AI platforms effectively, while respecting confidentiality and our corporate policies.
• Travel to Ontario periodically for meetings and organizational functions or events.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
