Manager of Clinical Informatics
Reports to the Director of Care and coordinates the RAI-MDS 2.0 process, monitors quality outcomes and CIHI reports, ensures compliance, and provides education and mentorship to staff.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee informatics on quality improvement and RAI-MDS 2.0 for new staff or students
- Provide education and software training on RAI-MDS 2.0, RAPS, subscale outcome measures, quality indicators, and reports
- Coordinate AIS certification for newly hired registered staff and annually thereafter
- Collaborate with management and interdisciplinary team members to develop processes ensuring data integrity, efficient data collection, assessment completion, and data utilization
- Establish data quality processes to evaluate MDS coding accuracy and timely completion
- Participate in the development of the annual QIP and progress report and in quality initiatives
- Understand the nature and meaning of quality indicators
- Coordinate the data submission process to the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI)
- Lead the Nursing Restorative program in the facility
- Mentor and coach Nursing Restorative Therapists
- Oriente new staff to the philosophy, policy, and criteria of Nursing Restorative Care
- Interpret legislative requirements for the nursing team and monitor compliance through continuous quality improvement activities
- Counsel staff on non‑compliance, inappropriate, and unprofessional behaviour
- Assist with completion of staff probationary and annual performance reviews
- Engage in learning that develops emotional self‑awareness and a person‑centered approach toward others
Qualifications:
- Registered health professional licensed under the Health Disciplines Act in a Canadian jurisdiction other than Ontario, with equivalent certification in Ontario under Bill 60
- Well‑developed written and oral communication skills
- Knowledge and experience with adult education strategies/facilitation
- Ability to identify training needs of team and individuals
- Proficient computer skills and strong problem‑solving abilities
- Ability to work with and relate to interdisciplinary team members and other internal stakeholders
- Knowledge of RAI‑MDS – AIS certified as RAI Educator; if not, must complete within one month
- Skills and knowledge in trending and analysing data
- Knowledge of Quality Improvement
- Minimum of two years experience in a long‑term care setting
- Preferred: at least two years of supervisory experience
- Evidence of focus on people’s feelings in interactions and ability to turn tasks into positive social interaction
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting individuals’ rights and risk reduction
- Provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check, including a Criminal Background Check, or be willing to obtain one
- Submit documented results of TB testing (within last six months or within 14 days upon hire) or a chest X‑ray (within last year)
- Provide two supervisory references
- Provide proof of all required vaccines; vaccination requirements may change as determined by the employer

Starting annual salary: $65,000.
