Staff Accountant
London, ON | Onsite
$80,000 + 10% Bonus
A private equity-backed specialty trades company is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its growing accounting team in London, Ontario. The company operates across the fencing, perimeter security, access control, and specialty construction/infrastructure sectors and has experienced significant growth through both organic expansion and acquisitions.
This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who wants hands-on exposure to a growing operating company and the opportunity to develop within a fast-paced PE-backed environment.
What You'll Do
- Support day-to-day accounting operations and the month-end close process.
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Assist with general ledger activities and financial statement preparation.
- Manage accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, cash application, collections, and customer account reconciliations.
- Manage accounts payable processes, including invoice review, coding, approvals, and payment processing.
- Maintain accurate inventory accounting records, including receipts, transfers, adjustments, and reconciliations.
- Support payroll processing and ensure accurate and timely payroll administration.
- Assist with external audits, tax filings, and other compliance requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting.
- Partner with operations, procurement, and other internal teams to resolve accounting discrepancies and improve financial accuracy.
What We're Looking For
- 2–4+ years of accounting experience in an operating company or business environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with day-to-day accounting activities.
- Strong understanding of: Month-end close, AP/AR, GL, JE, account recs, financial statements, GAAP and internal controls
- Experience supporting audits and/or tax filings.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and MS Office skills.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to Have
- Multi-entity accounting experience.
- Inventory accounting experience, including inventory transactions and reconciliations.
- Experience in construction, manufacturing, infrastructure, specialty trades, or a similar industry.
- Experience working in a private equity-backed or acquisitive environment.
- Experience with Jonas or similar accounting/ERP systems.
