The Recreation Department plays a vital role in fostering healthy, inclusive, and engaging experiences through a diverse range of programs, camps, and community events. We are seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and child-focused individual to join our team as a regular part-time Recreation Leader I within the Children’s Programs area working 28 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

In this role, the Recreation Leader I will assist the Recreation Coordinator and Recreation Leader II with the delivery of high-quality children's programs and camps. 

Responsibilities include:

• Participating in the planning and implementation of programs, 
• Purchasing supplies, 
• Scheduling substitute instructors (or leading classes when necessary),
• Addressing parent inquiries and concerns, and
• Providing instruction, coaching, and support to program instructors while ensuring a safe, positive, and engaging environment for all participants.

Basic Qualifications include:

• Successful completion of Grade 12 education and six months of related post-secondary coursework in recreation, plus a minimum of one year of recent related experience working with children in a recreational setting,
• Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C and AED certification,
• Experience coaching or instructing children,
• Strong team-building, leadership, and communication skills,
• Strong organizational and time-management skills,
• Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office applications,
• Supervisory experience is considered an asset,
• Experience with PerfectMind registration and facility booking software is an asset, and
• Clean and valid BC Driver’s Licence and access to a vehicle.
