Located in the south-central region of B.C., the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) covers an area over 10,400 square kilometers and is renowned for its orchards, vineyards and golf courses, as well as its widely varied landscape including deserts, mountains and valleys, pristine lakes and outdoor recreational opportunities.

The RDOS is seeking a dynamic leader to fill the position of Fire Chief to support the Naramata Volunteer Fire Department. Reporting to the Manager of Regional Fire Services, the Fire Chief is responsible for the overall administration of the fire department and shall manage all equipment and personnel. The position manages staff in compliance with the Fire Services Act (B.C.), British Columbia Structure Firefighter Minimum Training Standards, Regional District bylaws, policies and statutory requirements.

In accordance with the BC Structure Firefighter Minimum Training Standards, the preferred candidate should possess (or be willing to enroll in):

• Knowledge of the fire department operational guidelines, policies, procedures, local bylaws, provincial codes, acts and
• Strong conflict resolution and facilitation skills. Critical Incident Stress Debriefing training would be an
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the proven ability to motivate and organize
• Proven leadership in the achievement of goals and
• Ability to respond to emergencies as needed, including weekends and
• Must be able to work under demanding conditions during
• Clear driving
• Clear criminal record check, including a vulnerable sector

Compensation includes a monthly stipend of $1,289.87 for administrative duties, as well as an hourly rate of $34.45 for emergency response and training. Health benefits are available upon meeting eligibility criteria.
