Planning & Scheduling Engineer III

We are seeking a highly experienced Planning & Scheduling Engineer III. This position is ideal for a front-end focused planner who excels in early-stage project development—not just execution scheduling. You will play a critical role in shaping project outcomes by developing integrated schedules from concept through execution, working closely with multidisciplinary teams across a global delivery model.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage project schedules from early-stage (front-end) through execution
  • Lead planning strategy development, including alignment with gate-based project systems
  • Establish and maintain progress measurement systems, including tracking, verification, and reporting
  • Mentor junior planning and project controls staff and contribute to team capability development
  • Drive capital efficiency through strong planning practices and proactive schedule control

Review and assess contractor schedules for:

  • Logic, sequencing, and level of detail
  • Alignment with project scope, WBS, and cost estimates
  • Interface integration with other project elements
  • Provide schedule assurance and forecasting, identifying trends and deviations early
  • Set expectations and cadence for contractor deliverables and schedule updates

Collaborate closely with:

  • Discipline Engineers
  • Construction Teams
  • Third-party Contractors

Core Focus

  • Owner-side project planning (preferred)
  • Early-phase strategy and development
  • Schedule integration and lifecycle support

Qualifications & Experience

  • ~15+ years of experience in project controls with a strong focus on planning & scheduling
  • Proven experience in early-phase (front-end) project development
  • Demonstrated ability to build schedules from concept, not just manage during construction
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience influencing cross-functional teams and driving alignment

Preferred Background

  • Industry experience in:
    • Upstream Oil & Gas
  • Experience working on both Owner and EPC sides (strong asset)
  • Experience with brownfield / sustaining capital projects
  • Familiarity with gate-based project systems

Ideal Candidate

You are a front-end planning specialist who:

  • Thrives in early-stage project environments
  • Has experience on owner-side planning teams
  • Can influence and align diverse stakeholders
  • Is known for strong collaboration and mentorship
  • Brings both strategic insight and hands-on execution
