Position Overview: Are you a self-starter with a builder's mindset? As the Shelmerdine Supply Division Manager, you'll take the lead in launching and operating our new landscape supply retail division. From product selection and pricing to daily logistics and team leadership, you'll help shape every aspect of this exciting new venture. Position Details: Type: Full-Time, Year-RoundLocation: Shelmerdine Garden Centre Ltd. (Must have own transportation—no bus service available)Salary: Based on Experience What You'll Be Doing:

• Launch and oversee the Shelmerdine Supply division: Establish and manage a new retail division specializing in professional-grade landscape construction materials.
• Build a product catalog and pricing models: Develop comprehensive catalogs and competitive pricing strategies for hardscape materials, decking, bulk aggregates, and related products.
• Hire, train, and lead a growing team: Recruit, mentor, and manage yard staff and junior sales associates, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment as the business grows.
• Coordinate logistics and material handling: Work closely with existing teams to streamline the handling, storage, and delivery of materials, ensuring timely and accurate order fulfillment.
• Develop operational systems: Implement effective systems for the retail sale of both bulk and palletized products, optimizing inventory management and customer service processes.
• Collaborate with marketing: Partner with the marketing team to enhance brand awareness, drive customer engagement, and increase traffic to the new division.
• Maintain merchandising displays: Ensure that seasonal merchandising displays are attractive, organized, and reflective of current inventory and promotions.
• Ensure top-tier customer service: Uphold high standards for customer support, order accuracy, and efficient fulfillment, addressing customer inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
• Oversee inventory management: Monitor stock levels, conduct regular inventory audits, and coordinate with suppliers to maintain optimal inventory, minimizing shortages and overstock situations.
• Implement safety and compliance protocols: Establish and enforce safety guidelines and compliance standards within the yard and retail areas, conducting regular inspections and training sessions.
• Manage budgeting and financial performance: Develop and oversee the division's budget, monitor expenditures, and implement cost-control measures to achieve financial targets.
• Analyze sales data and market trends: Regularly review sales reports and market trends to identify opportunities for growth, adjust product offerings, and improve customer satisfaction.
• Coordinate with suppliers and vendors: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors, negotiating terms and ensuring timely delivery of quality materials.

Lead continuous improvement initiatives: Identify areas for operational improvement, implement best practices, and drive initiatives that enhance efficiency and customer experience. What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in landscape supply, building product retail, or yard operations
• Experience leading a team and managing day-to-day retail operations
• Strong knowledge of landscape materials, hardscaping, and decking products
• Entrepreneurial spirit with strong organizational skills and a customer-first approach
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Forklift experience or certification is an asset
• Familiarity with POS and inventory systems is a bonus
• Valid driver's license and a clean criminal record required
