Consultant must have the ability to obtain Secret Status (required). Processed by the CLIENT if selected to hire. Consultant must reside in Canada for a minimum of 10 years to be eligible to apply for Security Clearance.

Ottawa, ON - Hybrid (required 12 days on-site per month)

Job Description

Consultants will be required to be on-call and to work during non-standard business hours, including weekends or evenings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support, administration, and maintenance of VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF 5.x/9.x) components, including vSphere, vSAN, Aria Suite, NSX, HCX, and SDDC Manager
  • Provide support for Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions, including vSphere Replication and VMware Live Site Recovery (LSR / SRM)
  • Support and maintain Azure Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) environments
  • Develop, maintain, and support automation pipelines using Ansible Tower and Azure DevOps
  • Perform real-time health monitoring and platform validation across all supported environments
  • Resolve incidents and problems in accordance with defined SLA targets
  • Execute approved configuration changes and standard service requests in compliance with change management processes
  • Design, develop, and implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions and automation workflows
  • Identify opportunities for automation and implement solutions to improve operational efficiency
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation, including operational procedures and release notes
  • Enforce cybersecurity controls and best practices across all supported platforms
  • Implement, maintain, and validate Disaster Recovery (DR) plans, including periodic testing and failover validation
  • Ensure alignment with organizational security, resiliency, and compliance standards
  • Perform system upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management activities across supported platforms
  • Ensure compliance with vendor-recommended compatibility matrices and supported configurations
  • Conduct capacity planning and performance tuning to optimize platform stability and performance
  • Support audit activities and provide required reporting documentation
  • Perform validation and testing activities during incident resolution and change implementation
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call support rotation, as required
  • Other related activities and deliverables, as required

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • University degree or college diploma in computer science, engineering, information technology, or a related field
  • A minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated experience in enterprise virtual infrastructure platforms (VMware ecosystem), including vSphere and VCF
  • A minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated experience with Azure IaaS, Ansible Tower & Azure DevOps
  • Demonstrated experience in virtual infrastructure administration, preferably within Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) environments
  • Demonstrated strong proficiency in scripting languages, including PowerShell and/or Python, to support automation and operational tasks
  • Demonstrated hands‑on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and practices, including technologies such as Ansible, Terraform, and Azure
  • Demonstrated experience working in and supporting large‑scale, 24/7 production environments, ensuring high availability and operational stability
