General Factory Floor Labourer

Job Summary: The primary responsibilities for this role are to perform manual labour tasks and support the operation on the floor. You will be supporting the Floor Manager and staff in their roles producing swimming pool safety covers, large tarps, etc.

One of the most important general labourer responsibilities is to fold large covers and to pull material through the machines. Other essential responsibilities include, collecting trash, debris and other waste to keep the site clean and safe. You need to be able to lift heavy loads as well as be able to concentrate on performing your tasks and commit to safety rules.

Key Responsibilities:

· Fold large covers according to company packing standards

· Clean up worksites from hazardous or obsolete material

· Assist sewers with pulling material through the machines

· Handle and transport materials (e.g. fabric, cardboard boxes, sewing machine parts, etc.)

· Loading and stretch wrapping skids

· Follow instructions from supervisor to perform manual labour tasks

· Put out warning signs (e.g. signposts, cones) for spills and notifications.

· Help with setting up and transferring temporary structures (e.g. pallet racking)

· Report issues with equipment or unsafe conditions

• Abide by all applicable Health and Safety company policies and government legislation/regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Management.

Education and Experience :

• High school

Skills :

· Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (standing for long periods of time, lifting heavy loads of up to 40 pounds, etc.)

· Good hand-eye coordination

· Familiarity with power tools and machinery is a plus

· Communication and teamwork skills

· Understanding of and commitment to safety rules

· Apprenticeship or specialization is an asset and may be compensated appropriately, but not necessary

• Travel Requirements: None
• Physical Environment: 100% Plant/Factory
• Physical Demand: Low to High in Intensity. Standing for extended periods of time, lifting up to 40lbs regularly. Visual accuracy and focused attention to tasks.
• Mental Effort: Moderate intensity with occasional higher levels of mental effort.
• Availability to work mandatory overtime hours during our “busy season” between mid-August through end of November.
