SCHEDULE: Day, 8 and 12-hour shifts. Work schedule may be changed to meet operational needs.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS: Bilingual essential

JOB SUMMARY:

The incumbent works in close collaboration with the geneticist. They devote the majority of their time to clinical practice with patients and their families, providing specialized expertise and medical genetics counseling. They assess individual or familial risk for a variety of hereditary conditions, interpret genetic test results, and guide patients and their families through the genetic diagnostic process.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Master's degree in Genetic Counseling;
• Relevant clinical experience in a hospital or specialized clinical setting;
• Knowledge of the Microsoft Office 365 Suite and other software used within the Network;
• Proficiency in genetic databases and electronic medical records;
• Knowledge of programs and resources available to support and assist families;
• Ability to explain complex genetic concepts clearly, simply, and empathetically;
• Leadership, initiative, sound judgment, and decision-making skills;
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to change;
• Ability to work independently and as a team member;
• Physical ability to perform assigned duties;
• Good previous work history (performance and attendance);
• Adherence to professional ethics principles, to the Network management philosophy and organizational values;
• Compliance with the rules of confidentiality established by the Vitalité Health Network.
