Software Team Lead – Permanent Position, 40 hours per week

• Salary: $166000 – $205000

Our Current Needs

We are seeking a new leader to guide our well‑established software team and help shape its next chapter. The role focuses on supporting others and championing a vision, creating an environment where software developers are empowered and motivated.

The software team’s mission is to design, develop and maintain the critical software that enables the development and operation of Nord Quantique’s quantum computers. They promote best coding practices across teams and provide training for the tools we create.

The Software Team Lead provides vision at three levels:

• Within the software team – inspire and guide the team members to accomplish the roadmap projects.
• Across Nord Quantique – foresee future needs from other teams and support development and integration of software solutions for them.
• Outside Nord Quantique – identify and collaborate with external partners to accelerate the roadmap.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the day‑to‑day work of the Software team, ensuring each member has what they need to thrive.
• Foster a motivating, respectful, and collaborative environment within the team and across interfaces with other teams and partners.
• Support the team’s growth through mentoring, recruitment, and skill development.
• Lead and coordinate software development initiatives to align with the roadmap and the needs of other teams.
• Define and drive the strategic vision for scaling current company software to meet future growth and performance needs.
• Interface with external partners and consultants to align software needs with their capabilities and deliverables.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, physics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8years of experience leading software development projects in an R&D or industrial setting.
• Minimum of 3years of experience in quantum‑adjacent software development.
• Experience scaling and maturing software products from design and prototyping to stable, fully deployed solutions.

Sought Expertise and Knowledge

• Overall understanding of the quantum computing software stack.
• Strong understanding of scalable, maintainable system design and modern software architecture.
• Expertise in Python.
• Fluent in English.
• Intermediate knowledge of French (asset).
