School Bus Driver

Voyago and East Ferris Bus Lines are currently recruiting to fill existing vacancies and for future growth in the Student Transportation division. Now hiring School Bus Drivers for Simcoe, Hanover, Kingston, Ottawa and North Bay.

This is a split shift (approximately 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon), so being CLOSE to our school coverage area is essential.

Your role

• Safely transport students within your community to and from school, ensuring a reliable and positive experience each day
• Prioritize student safety at all times, including during boarding, transit, and exiting the vehicle
• Conduct thorough pre and post trip inspections to ensure the bus remains in proper and safe operating condition
• Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the bus, including assisting with fueling and basic upkeep to present a well kept, professional vehicle
• Accurately complete daily Hours of Service reports and maintain required documentation in compliance with company and regulatory standards
• Immediately report any mechanical issues or concerns affecting the safe operation of the vehicle
• Address and report any student behaviour issues in a timely and professional manner, following company procedures
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with safety practices, policies, and regulations
• Demonstrate professionalism, patience, and care while fostering a safe and respectful environment for all passengers

Requirements

Your profile

• You are safety-focused
• You hold a valid minimum full Ontario G-class driver's license, Preference will be given to B class drivers.
• You are 21 years of age or over.
• You possess a clean driving record and a criminal record search with vulnerable sector screening
• You have a sound driving knowledge of the locations in this posting
• You have the ability to work independently
• You are available for the required split shifts of 4-5 hours total, that could run: Monday - Friday between 6:30am - 9:30am and 1:30pm - 5pm.
• You possess solid communication skills and must be fluent in English. There will be a pre-hire driving skills and radio communication assessment
• You have basic computer skills and can easily navigate Google Maps or a GPS unit.

By joining the Student Transportation team in Ontario, you’ll find:

• We offer a competitive hourly driving rate for Big Yellow, starting from $20.70 to $23.00
• PLUS there is a $2,000 retention bonus for qualifying drivers - your commitment really PAYS!
• You will be compensated for a 3.5 to 4-hour daily minimum (varies per contract) if you drive both the morning and afternoon runs for a full route.
• Opportunities are available with charters for extra hours
