Summary
A dual-track (English and French Immersion) high school in Hinton, Alberta. Located under an hour east of Jasper, Alberta. Harry Collinge High School resides in the Grande Yellowhead Public School Division, a senior high school providing excellent education to approximately 500 students, grades 8-12.
Role and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be a collaborative person with proficiency in the use of educational technology and have an understanding of assessment for learning. The responsibilities include:
- Providing instruction to promote high quality student-centered learning.
- Designing and preparing lessons based on curriculum and following a variety of methodology in teaching and instructing students, including lectures, demonstrations and discussions.
- Facilitating inclusive educational practices to maximize educational opportunities for all students.
- Reviewing and evaluating each student's performance, knowledge and skills and meeting all reporting and assessment deadlines.
- Adhering to provincial legislation, board policy and division administrative procedures.
- Developing constructive relationships with parents.
- Modelling commitment to professional development. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Principal to support the effective operation of the school.
Additional Notes
This assignment combines the role of a Learning Support Teacher with instructional responsibilities for Junior / Senior High School.
Learning Support Teacher (0.5 FTE)
- Practical experience working with students with complex needs
- Managing and supporting both students and staff in the implementation and ongoing review of Individual Support Plans (ISPs)
- Working as a liaison for the following groups ( families, students, staff and administration) regarding the implementation and development of ISPs
- Experience working with and organizing Educational Assistants for the purposes of executing ISP delivery
- Ability to manage and a balance a high demand workload is an asset
Classroom Duties ( 0.5 FTE)
- Includes Grade 8 ELA
- Jr High Options (To be determined)
- Senior High Options (To be determined)
Requirements
The successful candidate will:
- Possess an Alberta Teaching Certificate or be eligible for one.
- Have experience in following the Teaching Quality Standard (TQS) and infusing literacy across the curriculum.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree of Education.
The Division
Grande Yellowhead School Division (GYPSD) stretches from Jasper National Park, east to Evansburg, south of Cadomin, and northwest to Grande Cache. The jurisdiction includes 17 schools, 5 Learning Connection Centres, approximately 5000 students and 600 staff. The Division is governed by seven elected Trustees.

Committed to ongoing professional development, the Division offers each teacher and principal the opportunity to apply for up to $2,500 annually to support their professional learning. Additionally, educators pursuing a Master’s, Doctorate, or Leadership Quality Standard Program may apply for an extra $2,000 per year to further support their educational advancement.
