Junior Behaviour Therapist (JBT)

Reports to: Clinical Coordinator

The Junior Behaviour Therapist (JBT) will follow the day-to-day instructional direction and programming guidance provided by the Lead Behaviour Therapist (LBT) and Rotational Lead BT.

Summary

A Junior Behaviour Therapist (JBT) at Oak Bridge Academy plays a key role in supporting the delivery of educational, emotional, social, and behavioural programs within the classroom. Junior BTs are essential members of the classroom team and work under the direct guidance of the teacher and Lead Behaviour Therapist (LBT), and in collaboration with the Rotational Lead RBT and Clinical Coordinator (CC).

This role requires increasing proficiency in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) strategies, with an emphasis on implementing programming with fidelity under supervision and guidance. Junior BTs are expected to work collaboratively within the classroom team, follow direction from the Lead BT regarding behaviour programming and implementation, and actively incorporate feedback to support professional growth and consistency in service delivery.

The Junior BT’s primary role is to support the implementation of individualized student programming, including academic, behavioural, emotional, and social goals, through direct work with individuals and small groups of students. Junior BTs assist in the consistent implementation of behaviour intervention plans and classroom programming as directed by the Lead RBT and classroom team.

Primary Responsibilities

• Responsible for maintaining accurate and up to date data in alignment with program and documentation requirements.

• Collaborate with the Rotational LBT and Clinical Coordinator (CC) to maintain program quality and behavioural integrity.

• Maintain open, professional communication with all team members.

• Participate in weekly team meetings to review student progress and address challenges.

• Maintains appropriate supervision of students across all settings, including classrooms, hallways, play and lunch areas, rest periods, and during recreational activities/ community outings.

• Model best practices in ABA, ACT, and crisis intervention strategies in both contrived and natural settings under the guidance of Lead BT, Rotational LBT, and CC.

• Assist with the development and consistent implementation of behaviour service plans, individualized education plans, and behaviour safety plans under the guidance of Lead BT, Rotational LBT, and CC.

• Participate in professional development aligned with OBA’s mission.

• Develops instructional materials and visual supports aligned with ABA principals (e.g., task analyses, schedules, and other antecedent-based teaching tools to support skill acquisition and independence).

• Assist with other duties as requested by the teacher, Rotational LBT, CC, and/or administrator(s).

• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required to support the individualized and specialized needs of student educational programming.

Work Conditions
